RAJOURI, July 10: Seven members of a family, including six children and one woman, were hospitalized after allegedly consuming poisonous wild mushrooms collected from a nearby forest in Gadyog village of Khawas area in Kotranka Sub-Division of Rajouri district.fficials said the family prepared the wild mushrooms for a meal. Soon after consuming the food, all the seven developed symptoms including severe vomiting, abdominal pain and restlessness. They were immediately shifted to the nearest health facility, where they received first aid before being referred to Government Medical College (GMC), Rajouri, for specialized treatment.
Medical Superintendent, GMC Rajouri, Dr. Shamim Ahmad, identified the patients as Mohammad Saleem (12), son of Mushtaq Ahmad; Zaheer Ahmad (12), son of Javed Ahmad; Waqar Ali (11), son of Mohammad Shafiq; Shaheen Akhter (25), wife of Sajjad Hussain; Safeena Akhter (3), daughter of Sajjad Hussain; Zubair Hussain (3), son of Zakir Hussain and Sultan Khan (5), son of Sajjad Hussain.
Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, said that immediately after receiving information about the incident, the district administration coordinated with the Health Department to ensure prompt medical assistance to all the affected persons.
The safety and well-being of our citizens is our highest priority. I directed the health authorities to provide the best possible treatment without any delay. I am closely monitoring the condition of all the patients, and I am relieved to know that they are stable and responding well to treatment,” the Deputy Commissioner said.
