“Video of stone pelting on yatris misleading, baseless” : ADGP

SRINAGAR: The ADGP Kashmir, Vijay Kumar clarified that there was no incident of stone pelting on Amarnath pilgrims and the video clip of stone pelting that had gone viral is “misleading” and “baseless”, with the intension to “malign the image of” J&K Police. Some people attempted to damage JKP’s reputation by posting a false and deceptive video of “stone-pelting on yatris” on social media. An FIR with the number 54/2023 has been filed in PS Pahalgam in this respect, according to a tweet from the Kashmir Zone police on Thursday. “The general populace is urged not to believe these rumours. According to ADGP Kashmir, JKP “has and will always be committed to guaranteeing the safety and security of yatris and a peaceful yatra.The Kashmir Police reported that earlier on July 15, there had been an altercation between pony walas that left a few yatris and a few pony walas with minor injuries. Immediately, the issue was under control. “On July 15, at Sheshnag, there was a fight between pony walas (among themselves), which caused a few yatris and ponywallas to get minor injuries. The situation was quickly under control, according to a tweet posted on Thursday by the Kashmir Zone police. According to the pertinent legal provisions, “A case FIR No 51/2023 was registered in PS Pahalgam and 3 accused have been arrested: ADGP Kashmir,” it continued. Earlier on Wednesday, the Jammu and Kashmir government denied false reports that miscreants were throwing stones at Amarnath yatris in an official statement. The management claimed that a little disagreement among the poniwallas themselves was to blame for the incident. According to the statement, “The administration has made all the arrangements for the smooth conduct of the Shri Amarnathji Yatra for the convenience of pilgrims.”The video was made with the nefarious goal of dividing communities, sowing discord, and upsetting a tranquil yatra. The statement continued, “All yatris who have begun the pilgrimage to the Holy Cave of Shri Amarnathji have attested to the good quality of services and appreciated the flawless yatra. On July 1, the yearly Amarnath Yatra got under way. The 62-day journey will come to an end on August 31.
