LEH : Rahul Gandhi, a congress leader from India who is in Ladakh, spoke with Army veterans on Monday in the main market. Those thronging the streets to visit the Wayanad MP could see Rahul Gandhi waving at them. Rahul is in Ladakh for the first time since Jammu and Kashmir was divided into Ladakh and J&K, two Union Territories. The former leader of Congress spoke with nearby Army Veterans as well.Days before to meeting with Army veterans, the Congress leader blasted the government of India, claiming that it was “not true” that Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) troops had taken even a single inch of Indian territory. The Congress MP asserted that the villagers also claim that Chinese troops invaded and seized Indian territory, noting that this was a cause for concern. On Sunday morning, from the shores of Pangong Lake in Ladakh, he also paid tribute to his father and former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on the occasion of his 79th birthday.The Congress leader told reporters on Sunday that the inhabitants in this area are worried about China annexing their territory after placing floral tributes alongside a glittering Pangong Tso lake and a framed photo of the former prime minister. They said that the Chinese soldiers removed their grazing land. The PM claims that not even a single inch of land was removed. You can ask anyone in this room, this is not true,” Rahul remarked. Rahul Gandhi rode his bicycle to Pangong Lake in Ladakh earlier on Saturday.On Thursday, Rahul Gandhi began his two-day visit to the Union Territory in Leh. Later, he made the decision to prolong his trip until August 25. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been pitted against Congress and the National Conference in a pre-election alliance for the Kargil council elections planned for September 10. The Congress MP made two trips to Jammu and Srinagar earlier this year, but he skipped Ladakh. During his Bharat Jodo Yatra in January, the Congress leader travelled to Jammu and Srinagar. In February, he returned to the Gulmarg ski area on a personal trip.
