NIA attaches 4 properties in Handwara in narco-terror case
Srinagar, Feb 24: In the Handwara region of Kupwara district, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) today confiscated cash and attached four homes as part of a narco-terrorism investigation involving Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) and Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT).The NIA has confiscated cash worth Rs 2.27 crore and attached the properties of the four accused in the Handwara region of the Kupwara district. The single-story home of accused Muneer Ahmad Pandey, the double-story home of accused Afaq Ahmad Wani, the home of Saleem Andrabi, and the double-story home of Islamul Haq are the immovable properties linked.So far in this investigation, the NIA has charged fifteen people and detained twelve of the accused. The case (RC 03/2020/NIA/JMU) concerns LeT and HM's violent terror operations in the Handwara-Kupwara area, which they financed with the "proceeds of narcotic drugs." After a black bag and numerous 500-denomination Indian cash notes were found during vehicle inspections in the Handwara district of Langate, a lawsuit was filed. The NIA released a statement stating that the seizure was made from a white Creta automobile without a registration number. It should be noted that the NIA conducted a thorough investigation after Abdul Momin Peer, the driver of the automobile, was questioned and information on the link between narcoterrorism and drugs was revealed.In addition to numerous pieces of evidence, including substantial quantities of cash, 21 kilogrammes of heroin were found during the initial searches conducted in the homes of the individual defendants. In order to protect national security, the anti-terror agency is persisting in its unwavering efforts to demolish and dismantle the terror network in Kashmir.
