Army initiates Court of Inquiry as police lodges murder case over killing of 3 civilians

JAMMU: According to official sources on Monday, the Army has opened a Court of Inquiry and police have filed a murder case against unidentified individuals for the deaths of three civilians who were apprehended by the force and questioned after three soldiers were killed in a terrorist attack in Poonch recently. A related development is that three officers of the 48 Rashtriya Rifles are facing legal action, and a brigadier-level officer was moved. The Army has taken serious note of the incident, which sparked outrage and allegations of torture during detention. On December 21, in the Surankote area of Poonch, terrorists ambushed the soldiers' vehicles at Dhatyar Morh, between Dhera Ki Gali and Buffliaz, resulting in their deaths.After the attack, the Army reportedly picked up three civilians, ages 27 to 42, for questioning; they were discovered dead on December 22. Social media users shared videos that appeared to depict their torment. "Search operations by the security forces are continuing in the area of operations after the incident of December 21," the Indian Army's Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADGPI) stated in a post on X on December 23. There have been three reported civilian deaths in the region. An investigation is being conducted into the matter. The Indian Army is dedicated to offering its complete assistance and collaboration in carrying out the inquiries.The Army has opened a Court of Inquiry into the suspected torture and subsequent deaths of the three civilians, according to the sources, who are carrying out their investigation. According to the sources, a brigadier-level officer who was overseeing the Surankote belt was moved, and other officers in the unit in question will also face consequences. In October, the Army's counter-insurgency unit made headlines for the wrong reasons when one of its major-rank officers exploded grenades inside the Neeli post camp near Thanamandi, wounding five people, including three officers. According to the sources, police have also filed a case against an unidentified accused army personnel under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code, which deals with murder. "...after terror incident at DKG on December 21, army troops carried out searches in Topa Peer in buffliaz for the terrorists who escaped after the attack. Our Priority Is To Empower Poor And Deprived Sections: PM

INDORE, Dec 25: The respect and empowerment of the underprivileged and impoverished segments of society is the government's top priority, according to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday. He added that during the BJP's "double-engine" government (at the centre and in Madhya Pradesh), thousands of crores of rupees had been invested in the area around Indore. Modi stated this will result in thousands of job opportunities while speaking via video link at a programme held to distribute debts totaling Rs 224 crore that belonged to employees of the Hukumchand Mill in the city of Indore, Madhya Pradesh. He said at the "Mazdooron ka Hit, Mazdooron ko Samarpit" programme that the decision will help over 4,800 labourers.The PM expressed his gratitude to the state government for finally resolving the long-standing issue and said he was fortunate to be present. According to him, the Madhya Pradesh government has made great progress in improving the lives of the underprivileged. As I've always stated, the poor, young, women, and farmers make up the largest four castes in my opinion. Respecting and empowering the underprivileged is our top priority, he declared. Modi went on to say that the "double-engine" government and the people of the state will benefit from receiving the blessings of labourers on Good Governance Day, which is observed on the anniversary of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's birth. Following the closure of the Hukumchand Mill in Indore in 1992 and its liquidation, the workers engaged in a protracted legal battle to recover their dues. The state Housing & Infrastructure Development Board and labour unions signed a settlement agreement on the Madhya Pradesh government's initiative, and on December 20, the settlement money was deposited in the high court, according to officials earlier. According to what Modi has been told, there was a festive mood in Indore when the package for the workers at Hukumchand Mill was announced. "Our labourer brothers and sisters are even more joyful now that this decision has been made," he remarked. According to Modi, years of penance by labourers produced today's programme. It is the result of many years of their dreams and resolutions. I firmly believe that the families of…
