Jammu, Feb 26: On Monday, the Jammu and Kashmir Police said that they had filed a lawsuit against an individual who was impersonating the additional director general of police in Jammu on several social networking sites. "A fraudster is using his image and other credentials to impersonate ADGP Jammu zone, Anand Jain on various social media platforms, with the intention of extorting money from people," a police statement reads. "The perpetrator made the profiles with malevolent intent. As a result, legal action has been started in accordance with the law," it stated without providing any more information. Social media users were also cautioned by the authorities not to reply to these fictitious personas.The statement read, "Any financial loss or other issues should be reported to the nearest cyber cell or police station in the respective districts." Police warned people not to connect with a phoney social media account that was impersonating the ADGP earlier on January 2.
