DEHRADUN: More than 90,000 pilgrims have visited the revered shrine within the first three days of its opening for the season, officials in Rudraprayag confirmed on Friday.

The doors of the Himalayan temple were opened to devotees on April 22, drawing an overwhelming response from across the country. According to Superintendent of Police Niharika Tomar, the initial days witnessed significant enthusiasm among pilgrims.

“Heavy enthusiasm among devotees was witnessed in the initial days. Over 90,000 pilgrims have performed darshan so far,” Tomar stated after reviewing travel and security arrangements in Kedarpuri.

Official data shows that approximately 38,000 pilgrims visited on the opening day, followed by over 25,000 on the second day. On the third day alone, more than 30,000 devotees reached the shrine.

Authorities have enforced stringent security measures to manage the surge. Central paramilitary forces have been deployed alongside local police, while teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and fire services remain on standby to address any emergencies.

Earlier, District Magistrate Vishal Mishra and SP Tomar conducted an inspection of the temple premises to ensure smooth arrangements for visitors. Officials have also urged pilgrims to rely on verified communication channels from the administration and police for accurate travel updates.
