Omar Abdullah Raises Statehood, Economy With PM Modi; Congratulates Him on 12 Years in Office

New Delhi, June 11 : Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and held discussions on a range of issues concerning the Union Territory, including the early restoration of statehood, economic development and promotion of tourism.

Sharing details of the meeting, Omar Abdullah said he raised several matters of importance to Jammu and Kashmir, with particular emphasis on the early return of statehood, the condition of the economy, the pace of developmental activities and measures to boost the tourism sector.

“Called on Hon’ble PM Narendra Modi ji to discuss issues of importance to J&K including early return of Statehood, the state of the economy, pace of development and promotion of tourism,” the Chief Minister said in a post on X.

Omar Abdullah also congratulated the Prime Minister on completing 12 uninterrupted years in office, describing it as a significant political milestone.

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), confirming the meeting, said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in New Delhi.

The meeting assumes significance amid continued political discourse over the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir and efforts to accelerate development and revive the economy through enhanced tourism and investment initiatives.
