RAJOURI:The vigilant police in Rajouri confiscated an oil tanker and freed 16 livestock from the hands of smugglers after exposing their method of illegally transporting cattle to the Kashmir valley via Mughal Road. According to official sources, a police team led by SHO Rajouri Inspector Aejaz Ahmed Wani laid a naka on the outskirts of the town on the orders of SSP Rajouri, Amritpal Singh, and during checking they intercepted a Bharat Petroleum Oil Tanker bearing registration No. HR38S – 5582 that was travelling from the Jammu side.The police squad became suspicious while checking. They began a thorough inspection of the oil ship and eventually discovered 16 cattle loaded cruelly and ruthlessly inside the tanker without having received valid DM licence. All 16 animals were saved, and the vehicle was captured. Tanker driver Shoket Ali, a Reasi resident and the son of Shah Mohd, was detained by the police. In this regard, a FIR was filed under the appropriate sections at Police Station Rajouri. The SSP instructed the police teams to increase the district-wide inspection of all sorts of cars.
