New Delhi, Jul 25: No terrorist could infiltrate into J&K till June 30 this year while 14 terrorists entered the UT in 2022, Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai said in Lok Sabha on Tuesday.According to Rai, there has been a noticeable decrease in infiltration as a result of the Indian government’s policy for combating cross-border infiltration.
In response to a written query, he stated that there had been zero “net infiltration” into Jammu and Kashmir up through June 30, 2023, 14 in 2022, 34 in 2021, 51 in 2020, and 141 in 2019.According to the minister, the Government of India has adopted a well-coordinated and multi-pronged strategy to combat cross-border infiltration. This strategy includes tactical deployment of forces at the International Border (IB) and the Line of Control (LoC), use of technology like surveillance cameras, night vision cameras, heat sensing devices, etc., multi-tiered deployment along IB and LoC, and border fencing.Among other things, he said, the deployment of intelligence personnel to gather in-depth and target-specific information on infiltration, ambushes, and foot patrols by the Army and the Border Security Force (BSF), the creation of Border Police Posts for gathering local intelligence, and taking proactive measures against infiltrators.
