SRINAGAR, May 29 : MeT on Monday predicted intermittent light to moderate rain coupled with thunderstorm to occur in J&K.The majority of the country is currently seeing partly to mostly cloudy skies, with the likelihood of sporadic light to moderate rain or thunderstorms increasing Monday towards late afternoon or evening at several locations in J&K.
It stated that through June 2 there would be sporadic light to heavy rain, thunderstorms, and lightning with the potential for hailstorms and gusty winds in a few isolated locations. The MeT office stated, “There is no forecast of any Major Rainfall.”From June 3 to 6, the weather is most expected to be dry.
In light of the bad weather prediction, it has also encouraged farmers to delay farm operations such as crop spraying and harvesting until June 2.
The nighttime temperature in Jammu and Kashmir, with the exception of Srinagar, continues to be below average. Additionally, the daytime temperature was 1-4 degrees Celsius below average.Srinagar recorded a low of 12.0 degree Celsius which was normal for the summer capital of J&K for the day. The maximum temperature was 0.7 degree Celsius below normal of 26.1 degree Celsius on Monday. The low temperature in Pahalgam, a popular tourist destination in south Kashmir, was 5.1 degrees Celsius, which was 1.0 degrees Celsius below average.A low of 9.6 degrees Celsius was recorded in Qazigund, 1.1 degrees below the average temperature of 10.7 degrees Celsius.
While Kupwara reported a low of 9.2 degrees Celsius, which was 1.4 degrees below normal for the frontier district of Kashmir, Kokernag had a low of 10.5 degrees Celsius, which was 0.1 degrees Celsius below the usual of 10.6 degrees Celsius.
According to the MeT office, Gulmarg recorded a low temperature of 7.0 degrees Celsius, which was 0.1 degrees Celsius below the average of 7.1 degrees Celsius.
