JAMMU, Jul 29: Officials said that A landmine exploded near the LoC in Poonch district in the early hours of Saturday but there was no report of any damage.According to the officials, a landmine went off at around 4 am near the Khokhri checkpoint in Terwan village in the Degwar region during heavy rain.
They said that Army forces searched the area right away, but they discovered nothing.
Landmines are scattered throughout the forward areas along the Line of Control as part of an anti-infiltration barrier system to stop terrorists from crossing over into the Indian side. Sometimes the mines explode after being destroyed by fires in the forest or heavy rainfall.
