Kashmir higher reaches receive fresh snowfall, temperature plummets

SRINAGAR: On Saturday morning, fresh snowfall in the Kashmir Valley’s higher elevations while rainfall in the lowlands, causing dramatic reduction in the day’s high temperatures. According to an official, the plains had torrential rainfall while the upper elevations of the Gurez Valley, including Razdan Pass, received new snowfall. He claimed that the authorities were obliged to close Bandipora-Gurez road due to the nightlong rain and snowfall on Razdan Top and other locations. Other areas of the Kashmir valley were also hit by rain, which caused significant drop in the maximum temperature. Due to snowfall and severe rain in the area, the authorities have also closed Sinthan Top and Margan Roads to traffic. Additionally, the Meteorological Department in Kashmir has predicted snow and rain for few isolated spots in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday night.
