JMC Commissioner Reviews Civic Infrastructure in Ward 61, Orders Immediate Measures to Address Public Grievances

Jammu: Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Dr. Devansh Yadav on Friday conducted an extensive inspection of Ward No. 61, covering Laxmi Vihar, Tomal Colony, Anand Nagar, Bohri and adjoining localities, to assess civic infrastructure, review ongoing development works and interact with residents regarding their grievances.During the visit, residents of Lane No. 4-A, Laxmi Vihar submitted a memorandum highlighting several long-pending civic issues, including clogged drains, damaged internal roads, waterlogging during rainfall, irregular drinking water supply and recurring flooding caused by the overflow at the confluence of the Muthi/Udhawala Main Nallah and the Om Nagar Nallah near the Tomal Colony Shamshan Ghat.

Dr. Yadav carried out a detailed inspection of the affected areas and reviewed the progress of drainage improvement works underway in Ward No. 61 and adjoining localities. Stressing the importance of timely execution and quality workmanship, he directed the executing agencies to complete all ongoing works within the stipulated timeline while adhering to prescribed standards.

Taking serious note of the issues raised by residents, the Commissioner issued on-the-spot directions to the concerned officers to initiate immediate remedial measures. He instructed officials to undertake regular desilting of drains, prepare comprehensive proposals for strengthening the drainage network, expedite the repair and reconstruction of damaged roads, and formulate long-term measures to effectively tackle flooding in the area.

He also directed the concerned departments to work in close coordination for the early resolution of issues related to drinking water supply and electricity.

Reaffirming the Jammu Municipal Corporation’s commitment to responsive, transparent and citizen-centric governance, Dr. Devansh Yadav assured residents that all genuine public concerns would be addressed on priority. He reiterated that the Corporation remains focused on strengthening civic infrastructure, improving public amenities and enhancing the quality of life for citizens.

Senior officers of the Jammu Municipal Corporation accompanied the Commissioner during the inspection. Dr. Yadav directed all concerned officials to ensure prompt follow-up and time-bound implementation of the directions issued during the visit.
