Jammu-Srinagar blocked in Ramban due to incessant rains, schools closed

RAMBAN: An official said on Tuesday that the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) in the Ramban area was closed by nonstop rain. On her social media page, Deputy Commissioner of Ramban Mussarat Zia requested that people avoid going today on NH-44 because it has been closed off by nonstop rain. “NH-44 is closed at Cafeteria Morh, close to Ramban, as result of heavy rainfall. It is urged that people check TCUs for updates and stay home today, according to Deputy Commissioner Ramban’s post. Additionally, he stated that all public and private schools in Ramban up to the Higher Secondary level will be closed today due to the ongoing rain.All public and private schools in District Ramban up to the high school level will be closed today due to the ongoing rain since yesterday. Exams, if any, must be held on the day that has been announced, he added. On October 17, the India Meteorological Department expects scattered areas of heavy rain in Jammu and Kashmir with chance of lightning and thunderstorms.
