IGP Jammu reviews crime, law & order in Reasi

JAMMU: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu Zone, Anand Jain, conducted a comprehensive review of the crime landscape and operational efficiency at District Police Reasi. This encompassed a detailed examination of cases filed in the current year and the resolution of previously pending matters. Accompanied by DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, Suleman Choudhary, and received by SSP Reasi, Amit Gupta, the IGP inaugurated a wet & dry canteen along with a welfare centre at DPL Reasi. A subsequent crime review meeting delved into pending cases, emphasizing the pivotal role of law and order maintenance, crime prevention, swift investigations, and case disposals. The meeting highlighted the significance of addressing public grievances, focusing on cases of public importance, and reinforcing Police-Public rapport. A statement said that the primary thrust of the discussion centered on enhancing the quality of investigations, particularly under the NDPS Act and UAPA Act in Reasi. Attention was also directed towards preventive actions under the law. IGP Jain underscored the urgency of concluding pending cases and public complaints to alleviate the concerns of the general public. He urged investigation officers to expedite their assigned cases and follow up on charge-sheeted cases for prompt convictions. Supervisory officers received directives to regularly assess SHOs/I/Os’ adherence to guidelines in special reported cases. SSP Reasi, Amit Gupta, presented a detailed overview of the district’s security scenario and crime disposition. Meanwhile, IGP Jain’s interaction with civil society members underscored the imperative of enhanced police-public cooperation for effective policing. Inaugurating the canteen facilities, he expressed their critical role in meeting the staff’s needs and enhancing their working capabilities. During a visit to Police Station Reasi, IGP Jain inspected facilities for jawans/officers and directed improvements.
