BARAMULLA: Today marked a significant milestone for the Department of Orthopaedics at Government Medical College (GMC) Baramulla as it saw the successful completion of a novel AC Acromioclavicular Joint Shoulder Reconstruction with Hamstring Graft. Under the direction of Assistant Professor Dr. Ishtiyaq Abdullah, the surgical team completed the complex operation without the need for any implants, establishing a new benchmark for orthopaedic surgery in the area. The patient underwent the ground-breaking procedure at the Ortho Theatre GMC Baramulla after receiving a diagnosis of Type 3 right AC joint dislocation. The patient also had an MRI. The Aayushman Bharat scheme was used for the procedure, which involved making a bra-style incision and carefully reconstructing the joint using a Hamstring Graft. The triumph of this pioneering procedure not only bolsters the remarkable medical accomplishments at GMC Baramulla but also underscores the organization’s commitment to offering cutting-edge healthcare services to the populace.
