NEW DELHI, Jan 15: The state-owned NHAI said on Monday that banks will deactivate FASTags with a valid balance but insufficient KYC after January 31, 2024. NHAI launched the “One Vehicle, One FASTag” initiative, which aims to discourage using a single FASTag for multiple vehicles or linking multiple FASTags to a single vehicle, in order to improve the efficiency of the electronic toll collection system and provide seamless movement at toll plazas, according to a company statement. Additionally, it stated that NHAI is urging FASTag customers to finish the “Know Your Customer” (KYC) process on their most recent FASTag by upgrading KYC in accordance with RBI rules. The statement advised consumers to make sure their most recent FASTag’s KYC is finished in order to prevent any trouble. “Only the latest FASTag account shall remain active as previous tags will be deactivated/blacklisted after 31st January 2024,” the notification read. FASTag users can contact the closest toll plazas or toll-free customer service number of their individual issuing banks for more help or inquiries.
