Div Com kick starts Plantation Drive along newly constructed Ring Road

JAMMU: In a significant move towards environmental conservation and beautification, Div Com Ramesh Kumar, kick started a plantation drive at Miran Sahib, along the newly constructed Ring Road Jammu.The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) organised this plantation initiative with the intention of increasing the area’s green cover and fostering sustainability. Relevantly, the NHAI has organised a nationwide plantation initiative to plant around 3 lakh saplings across 300 sites along the National Highways in a single day under the auspices of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.”The planting operation was officially begun with considerable ceremony, and participants included volunteers, residents, and PRIs. Hundreds of saplings of various indigenous species were planted around the Ring Road’s length to create a beautiful and ecologically diverse landscape. The action would be a crucial intervention in the fight against deforestation, in the fight against climate change, and in the fight for biodiversity preservation. Such programmes help to mitigate the negative effects of pollution and improve the community’s overall well-being by increasing the amount of green space in metropolitan areas. Our goal is to reshape the landscape and make it more sustainable and ecologically balanced, said Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, in highlighting the significance of the plantation campaign. In addition to improving the Ring Road’s aesthetic appeal, planting trees along it will have a number of ecological advantages, such as soil erosion prevention and air purification. Speaking at the event, PD NHAI stated that the plantation drive is a component of a national plantation drive intended to promote ecological harmony and environmental sustainability. Locals voiced their support and gratitude for the project and acknowledged the long-term advantages it would bring to the neighbourhood.They think that the more greenery there is, the more attractive the neighbourhood will look and the healthier it will be for everyone living there. This plantation drive is anticipated to inspire similar campaigns around the nation and act as a model for other regions. It exemplifies the value of working together to promote sustainable development and protect local communities’ natural resources. In order to improve the environment, APCCF and other officials emphasised the value of the planting effort and asked participants to plant tree saplings.In addition to DFO Jammu, SDM R. S. Pura, local PRIs, Regional Officer, NHAI, P Siva Sankar, Project Director, Y. P. S. Jadon, Joint Advisor, NHAI, (Retd.PCCF), Ravi Kesar, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forest, B M Sharma, and Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forest, Avny Lavasa, they were also in attendance.
