NEW DELHI : An official said on Sunday that suspected members of Sikhs For Justice (SFJ), a front for the separatist Khalistan Group, defaced more than five Metro stations with pro-Khalistan slogans, adding to security concerns ahead of the G20 Summit, which is scheduled to be held in the nation’s capital next month under India’s presidency. The inscriptions “Delhi Banega Khalistan” and “Khalistan Zindabad” can be seen inscribed on the walls of Metro stations in photographs shared by the Delhi Police.An officer stated that “Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) also released raw footage of Delhi Metro stations that were vandalised with pro-Khalistan slogans.” From Shivaji Park to Punjabi Bagh, “suspected SFJ activists defaced multiple Metro stations in Delhi with pro-Khalistan slogans,” the officer continued. They confirmed that Metro stations had been vandalised and were taking the required legal steps. The Metro stations are being vandalised as the nation’s capital prepares to host the B20 Summit India, 2023. August 25 marked the beginning of the three-day summit, which will end on Sunday.More than 1,500 representatives from 55 nations have attended the event. Up to 18 heads of state could attend the G20 meeting in the country’s capital the following month.A huge number of heads of state and diplomats are expected to attend the G20 Leaders’ Summit, including US President Joe Biden, Chinese Premier Xi Jinping, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and French President Emmanuel Macron.
