NEW DELHI, Jan 5: A local court on Friday detained a suspected terrorist from Hizbul Mujahideen for seven days, accusing him of being involved in eleven terror attack cases in Jammu and Kashmir. Javaid Ahmad Matoo, 32, was taken into custody by the Delhi Police’s Special Cell on Thursday in the nation’s capital. On an application made by the Delhi Police, Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Nabeela Wali placed Matoo under custody for a week after he appeared in court. The accused was taken into custody in Delhi’s Nizamuddin neighbourhood. He was a highly indoctrinated terrorist with a reward of Rs 10 lakh. When he was caught, the police claimed he was operating a stolen vehicle.According to the police, Matoo is connected to “11 known terror attack cases,” which include five grenade attacks and the deaths of at least five police officers in different incidents in Jammu and Kashmir. They claimed that he is a member of the terror groups Al Badr and Hizbul Mujahideen. The police also stated that Matoo’s attacks had resulted in the injuries of numerous police officers.
