Defence Minister approves raising four more NCC units in J&K & Ladakh

NEW DELHI: An idea to establish four new National Cadet Corps (NCC) Units in the Union Territories of Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh has been approved by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. According to an official release, the permission includes one Air Squadron at Udhampur (J&K), one Mixed (Boys Girls) Army Battalion at each of Udhampur (J&K), Kupwara (J&K), and Kargil (Ladakh). Consequently, the strength in J&K and Ladakh will expand by 12,860, or 46.1%, in addition to the current 27,870 cadets. With two Group Headquarters and ten NCC Units overall, the Directorate currently covers all three geographical zones. The region’s kids will benefit greatly from the growth in terms of nation-building as their morale will rise.
