DODA, June 29: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Doda, Krishan Lal, here today conducted a surprise inspection of the Gujjar & Bakarwal (GB) Boys and Girls Hostels to review the overall infrastructure, assess the quality of ongoing renovation works, monitor the construction of the new hostel building and inspect the essential facilities being provided to the students.
During visit, the DC inspected hostel premises, kitchen and dining facilities and interacted with the students and hostel staff and took a first-hand feedback regarding the living conditions and functioning of the hostels.
During inspection of the GB Girls Hostel, the DC observed that renovation and construction works executed under DAJUGA project were not in conformity with the approved Detailed Project Report. The quality of construction was found to be highly unsatisfactory and below the prescribed standards.
Taking a serious note of the deficiencies, the DC placed Aftab Ahmed, Junior Engineer, PWD (R&B) Division, Doda, under suspension with immediate effect and an enquiry was ordered against him.
The Superintending Engineer, PWD (R&B) Circle, Doda, was appointed as the Inquiry Officer and he was directed to submit a comprehensive report within seven days.
During inspection of the GB Boys Hostel, the electrical fittings and installations were found to be poorly maintained and in an unsafe condition, posing a serious risk to the safety of hostel inmates.
Consequently, Mohd Aslam, Electrician, GB Boys Hostel Doda, was placed under suspension with immediate effect and an enquiry was ordered against him.
District Social Welfare Officer, Doda, was appointed as the Inquiry Officer to conduct a detailed investigation and submit a report within seven days.
Additionally, a Show Cause Notice was also served to a concerned employee for unauthorized absence from duties, directing the employee to submit an explanation within the stipulated time, failing which disciplinary action shall be initiated against him under the applicable service rules.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the PWD (R&B) Department to ensure that all renovation and construction works are completed within the stipulated timeframe while strictly adhering to the approved specifications and quality standards.
Chief Planning Officer Doda, Manesh Kumar Manhas, along with officers from the concerned stakeholder departments accompanied the DC during the inspection.
