UDHAMPUR: Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo visited several prestigious project sites in the twin districts of Ramban and Udhampur today in addition to conducting an on-the-spot assessment of the state of the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. The Chief Secretary evaluated the District’s critical infrastructure implementation, including National Highway-44, at Ramban. Senior officers from various sectors, including key project directors, Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary, SSP Traffic, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, DIG, DKR Range, Dr. Sunil Gupta, Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mohita Sharma, SSP Traffic, and Rohit Baskotra, attended an important meeting held by Dulloo in Chandrkote.Following the meeting, the Chief Secretary conducted a physical inspection of dangerous locations along the National Highway, including Dalwas and other areas in the Ramban region. Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary gave a thorough assessment of the National Highway’s condition, paying particular attention to the 66 km section between Nashri and the Nayug tunnel. The Chief Secretary was updated on the district administration’s cooperation with NHAI as well as the completion dates for various tunnels. Along with highlighting the district’s soon-to-be completed railway line, Deputy Commissioner Ramban also briefed the Chief Secretary on the Sawalakote Hydroelectric project, a massive undertaking presently undergoing environmental impact assessment. Turning our attention to social indicators, the Chief Secretary was informed about the Ramban district’s efforts to improve the education of girls. the current Vikshit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, in which a large number of women and youth have taken part. He received assurance that by December 2025, the District Administration Ramban team hopes to fully implement all Centrally Sponsored Schemes within the district. In response to concerns about road safety, the Chief Secretary gave the SSP Traffic, Ramban stricter enforcement instructions and emphasised the importance of having a zero-tolerance policy for persistent traffic offenders. He also asked the director of the National Highway Project to concentrate on important locations that are causing traffic jams during rush hour. The Chief Secretary emphasised that drug addiction must be addressed and gave the SSP Ramban instructions to keep a careful eye on this illegal trade in order to effectively control it. The Chief Secretary had earlier in the day taken a thorough tour of District Udhampur, paying particular attention to the construction of the Government Medical College (GMC) and the ongoing work on the sacred Devika River. The prestigious Devika project was examined in its entirety by the Chief Secretary, who also visited Devika Ghat’s beautification and the operational Sewage Treatment Plant-II. Additionally, the Chief Secretary inspected a number of the Government Medical College and Associated Hospital’s departments.He evaluated the status of the hospital’s current staffing levels as well as the recent specialised surgeries carried out there. In the company of Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar and Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Saloni Rai, the Chief Secretary toured the 200-bed teaching district hospital construction sites and the temporary GMC Udhampur building. Dulloo gave the principal of GMC Udhampur instructions during his visit to guarantee high-quality care, reduce the number of referral cases, and establish a welcoming atmosphere for the students receiving training here. The Chief Secretary also asked about the facilities, diagnostics, and medications that are offered at the medical college’s Associated Hospital.He examined every area, including the labs and classrooms, to evaluate the facilities offered there.
