Policeman among 2 drug peddlers held in Baramulla

BARAMULLA: In the Baramulla district of North Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Police reported on Friday that they had detained two drug dealers, among them a police officer, and found contraband in their possession. According to a police official, officers detained drug dealers in Boniyar Baramulla and seized illegal substances from their possession. "A police party of Police Station Boniyar headed by SHO PS Boniyar under the supervision of SDPO Uri at a checkpoint established at Boniyar Baramulla intercepted two persons identified as Sajad Hussain Qureshi (Policeman) son of Nazir Ahmad Qureshi resident of Bandi Uri & Nadeem Ahmad Awan son of Mohd Hussain resident of Gingal Uri," the official stated. The spokesman claimed that 48 grammes of the illegal drug Herion were found in their hands during the search.As a result, a case has been lodged at Police Station Boniyar under the pertinent legal provisions, and an investigation has been started. Jammu, Sep 29 : On Friday, several passengers—many of them pilgrims—were left stranded at the Jammu and Katra railway stations as a result of the cancellation and diversion of seven trains as a result of a "rail roko" agitation by farmers in various areas of Punjab. On Thursday, members of multiple farmer organisations began a three-day agitation to further their objectives, which include a compensation package for losses brought on by recent flooding, a legal guarantee to the minimum support price (MSP), and a debt forgiveness programme. Farmers camped out on train tracks in a number of locations, including Moga, Hoshiarpur, Gurdaspur, Jalandhar, Tarn Taran, Sangrur, Patiala, Ferozepur, Bathinda, and Amritsar, as part of the protest. 2 Mortar Shells Found Along IB In Kathua

Kathua/ Sep 29 : On Friday, two antique mortar shells were discovered on a field near the International Border (IB) in the Kathua area of Jammu and Kashmir, according to officials. According to them, a farmer in the Patti Meru hamlet along the IB in the Hiranagar district discovered the two live mortar shells while working on his field. The two shells were retrieved after the police and BSF were notified by the farmer, according to their claims. Mortar shells were successfully defused. CRPF DG reviews operational readiness in Kashmir

SRINAGAR: Dr. Sujoy Lal Thaosen, Director General (DG) of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), visited south Kashmir on Thursday to assess the force's operational readiness. He comes just a few weeks after the Kokernag engagement, which resulted in the death of a senior LeT leader. The incident also claimed the lives of a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Muhammad Humayun Muzamil Bhat, two Army personnel, Colonel Manpreet Singh and Major Ashish Dhonchak. Meanwhile, on Thursday, the DG CRPF paid a visit to 180 BN in the Tral neighbourhood of Pulwama district and RTC Srinagar in Lethpora. The CRPF's top ranking officers and the DG assessed the unit's operational readiness together while also interacting with the staff to raise spirits. Along with IG CRPF Kashmir Operations Sector Gyanendra Kumar Verma and IG CRPF Srinagar Sector Ajay Yadav, DG CRPF was accompanied by Additional Director General (ADG) of Jammu and Kashmir Zone Nalin Prabhat. The official stated that "the DG visited RTC after his arrival in Kashmir to inspect the facilities and interact with the trainees." He added that the DG also provided words of motivation and inspiration, reiterating the CRPF's dedication to operational readiness and quality in training.Later, Dr. Thaosen paid a heartfelt homage to the valiant warriors who had given the ultimate sacrifices while performing their duty by visiting 180 BN of the CRPF and inaugurating Shaheed Mukesh Lal Meena Barrack. JAMMU, Sept 28: The Jammu Smart City won the Urban Environment category of the India Smart Cities Awards Contest (ISAC) 2022 for its successful e-mobility project, which includes the operation of eAutos and eRickshaws. Droupadi Murmu, the President of India, attended the award ceremony at Indore, Madhya Pradesh, as the principal guest. The Smart Cities Mission of the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs serves as the umbrella organisation for the India Smart Cities Award Contest. It honours and recognises the 100 Smart Cities' cities, initiatives, and creative concepts that advance sustainable development.According to the official, Shivamogga (Karnataka) took first prize in the Urban Environment Project category, with Indore taking second, and the Jammu Smart City taking third. Out of the 75 plans submitted by 48 cities, the Jammu Smart City was chosen as the winner of the India Smart Cities Awards Contest category. SAMBA: A comprehensive anti-encroachment operation successfully carried out by the District Administration resulted in the reclaiming of illegally occupied land at Industrial Estate Karandi Phase-III today. JAMMU: Dilbag Singh, the director general of police for Jammu and Kashmir, stated on Thursday that the security grid around the borders and in the hinterlands is vigilant and working to thwart the evil plans of elements that are supported by Pakistan and are hostile to the nation. The main source of militancy, according to the DGP, is Pakistan.He continued by saying that the Union Territory's police and other security services were committed to neutralising and eliminating militancy there. He claimed that successful operations were carried out and will keep doing so to eradicate the militancy's remains. According to Singh, there are now fewer active terrorists present, and attempts are being made to get rid of the rest. The DGP claimed that thanks to the ongoing efforts of the Jammu Kashmir Police and the "sacrifices of our fallen heroes," people in the Union Territory are living normal lives, sending their children to school, and conducting other business activities fearlessly.
