DGP chairs high-level joint security review meeting in Kulgam

KULGAM: According to a press release issued by J&K police on Monday, Director General of Police for Jammu and Kashmir, RR Swain, visited Kulgam, examined the district's security situation, and presided over a high-level meeting of police, army, and CAPF officers. The joint security review meeting was chaired by DGP RR Swain, who made the following statement, according to the official release: "Evolve more effective mechanism and ensure public safety while dealing with the elements inimical to peace." He also emphasised the importance of fortifying the system that allows stakeholders at various levels to share intelligence inputs. According to the press release, the J&K DGP stated that the masters of terror in Jammu and Kashmir and their stooges across the border are desperate to disturb the current peace in the region. He went on to say that cowardly attacks on defenceless civilians and military personnel show how frustrated terror handlers are with their inability to maintain peace and order in J&K.According to the official statement, the DGP further instructed the officers to keep up the fight against terrorists and those who support them, and to keep a close eye on any suspicious individuals in order to foil their malicious plans to disturb the tranquil atmosphere. The press release also stated that DGP RR Swain gave the officers orders to improve and reinforce the security grids in their respective regions for the general public's safety and security, as well as the protection of vulnerable populations. He expressed his admiration for the people's participation and cooperation in the current peaceful situation.According to the press release, the DGP added that in order to defeat saboteurs and enemies of peace, cooperation between the Police, other sister agencies, and the general public is required. JAMMU: The grandson of the last Dogra ruler, Maharaja Hari Singh, BJP leader Ajatshatru Singh, said on Saturday that people from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) will hold a conference in Geneva in March to highlight their plight. On his return from London, where he celebrated Jammu and Kashmir's accession day as a special invitee to the UK Parliament's House of Commons on October 26, he told reporters that he met a large number of people from PoK. Ajatshatru Singh stated that the PoK delegates he met in London were mostly "living on foreign soil" and were optimistic about the upcoming conference's outcome."They (people from PoK) are holding a major conference in March in Geneva, where the UN office is located, to inform the world community about their sufferings...," he went on to say. During the accession day celebrations, he said, a roundtable conference was held, and the participants agreed that Jammu and Kashmir's accession to India was complete and final. "Kashmiri Pandits were also part of the programme and a book on their migration from the Kashmir Valley over 30 years ago was also released," said Ajatshatru Singh

Kishtwar To Emerge As North India’s Major ‘Power Hub’: Dr Jitendra

KISHTWAR, Nov 11 : Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Science and Technology; MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Department of Atomic Energy & Department of Space, said today that Kishtwar in Jammu and Kashmir is on track to become North India's major "power hub," generating around 6,000 MW of power after the completion of ongoing power projects. Dr. Jitendra Singh, who was on an extensive tour of the remote and peripheral areas of the hill district of Kishtwar, visited Gulabgarh in the Paddar area and the remote village of Massu, where he also inaugurated the new School established by "Shiksha Bharti" for village children.The Union Minister, who is also a physician and diabetologist, attended the Indian Army's Multi Specialty Medical Camp in the village of Gulabgarh. Later, in the presence of district administration officers, Dr. Jitendra Singh held public interactions in the remote village of Massu as well as in Gulabgarh. He also spoke to the local PRIs, which included BDC members, Councillors, Sarpanches, and prominent activists from the region. Dr. Jitendra Singh stated during his address and later in a press conference that 6 to 7 major hydropower projects have been built in the region in the last 9 to 10 years since Shri Narendra Modi became Prime Minister.He went on to say that the largest capacity project, Pakal Dul, has a capacity of 1000 MW. Its current estimated cost is Rs.8,112.12 crore, with a competition timeline of 2025. Kiru Hydroelectric Project, with a capacity of 624 MW, is another major project. The project's estimated cost is Rs. 4,285.59 crore, and the timeline is also 2025, he said. The Minister also stated that the 850 MW Ratle project has been revived as a joint venture between the centre and the UT of J&K. Furthermore, the current Dulhasti power station has a capacity of 390 MW, while the Dulhasti II Hydroelectric project will have a capacity of 260 MW.Dr Jitendra Singh said these projects shall not only augment the power supply position thereby making up for the shortage of power…
