Cong To Mark Bharat Jodo Yatra Anniversary Across J&K Districts On Sept 7

JAMMU, Sept 5: On September 7, the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) will celebrate the Bharat Jodo Yatra's first anniversary in style throughout the 20 districts of the union territory, the party said on Tuesday. Leading the Bharat Jodo Yatra, senior Congressman Rahul Gandhi walked from Kanyakumari to Kashmir over 4,000 miles in 145 days. The lengthy yatra lasted from September 7, 2022, until January 30, 2023.Vikar Rasool Wani, the head of the JKPCC, said that on September 7, "The Congress shall commemorate the first anniversary of the Bharat Jodo Yatra in a big way at both capital headquarters Srinagar and Jammu along with all districts to revive and reiterate the message of the yatra from Kanyakumari to Kashmir last year." He declared that a massive event modelled after the Bharat Jodo Yatra would take place in Jammu and Srinagar, respectively. Rajni Patil, the AICC representative for Jammu and Kashmir, would accompany Wani in leading the yatra in Jammu, according to Wani, who presided over a preparation meeting of all top leaders, district presidents, frontal, and other significant officials here.Wani reviewed the event's planning in Jammu and the other districts of the area at the meeting. SC reserves its verdict on batch of pleas challenging abrogation of Article 370

NEW DELHI: On a number of petitions contesting the repeal of Article 370 of the Constitution, which granted the former state of Jammu and Kashmir special status, the Supreme Court on Tuesday deferred decision. After a lengthy 16-day hearing, a five-judge panel led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud reserved the decision. On the final day of the hearing, the bench, which also included Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul, Sanjiv Khanna, BR Gavai, and Surya Kant, heard the response arguments of prominent solicitors Kapil Sibal, Gopal Subramanium, Rajeev Dhavan, Zaffar Shah, Dushyant Dave, and others.The highest court ruled that any attorney representing the petitioners or respondents who desires to submit a written argument may do so within the next three days. It stated that the contribution should not be longer than two pages. The top court heard arguments from senior solicitors Harish Salve, Rakesh Dwivedi, V Giri, and others on behalf of the Centre and the intervenors in favour of repealing Article 370 over the course of the hearing, which lasted 16 days. The attorneys discussed a range of topics, including the constitutionality of the Center's August 5, 2019, decision to repeal the provision, the constitutionality of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, which divided the former state into two Union Territories, challenges to the imposition of the governor's rule in Jammu and Kashmir on June 20, 2018, and the imposition of the president's rule in the former state on December 19, 2018, as well as its extension on July 3, 2019. A Constitution bench received several petitions in 2019 that contested the repeal of Article 370 and the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, which split the former state into the two union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. The second terrorist, who had sought refuge inside a home in Gali Sohab hamlet in the Tuli area, is being hunted down despite the fact that one terrorist was killed and two security officials were hurt in the initial gunfight on Monday. They claimed that while security officers reinforced the perimeter around the target residence throughout the night, the intermittent shooting didn't stop. The security forces' attempt to storm the residence this morning was met with intense gunfire, according to the officials, who added that there were no new casualties recorded.Around 2:00 p.m. on Monday, the joint troops of the police, army, and CRPF zeroed in on the residence where the terrorists had sought refuge under cover of darkness between Sunday and Monday.
