NEW DELHI, Jan 13: Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has received a fourth summons from the Enforcement Directorate to appear for questioning in connection with a money laundering case involving the Delhi excise policy, according to official sources on Saturday. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener, Kejriwal, has been summoned to resign before the agency on January 18 at its headquarters here, according to a statement from the organisation. Kejriwal is scheduled to visit Goa for three days from January 18 to January 20 to assess his party's readiness for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, according per AAP sources. The 55-year-old leader had stated that the agency's "non-disclosure and non-response approach" could not withstand the test of law, equity, or justice and that its "obstinacy" amounted to taking on the roles of judge, jury, and executioner. On January 3, the leader had declined to depose before the ED for the third time. Previously, the chief minister was asked to step down on November 2, 2023, and December 21, 2023.Kejriwal's argument that the summons he was given was "not in consonance with the law" and should be withdrawn has once again been rejected by the ED with the issuance of the new notice. The sources state that the agency feels Kejriwal's summonses were "well within the PMLA procedures and law." In charge sheets the ED submitted in the case, Kejriwal's name has appeared several times. The agency has alleged that the accused were in communication with him over the preparation of the now-scrapped Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22.The AAP might be named as a "beneficiary" of the purported kickbacks obtained under the excise policy in the ED's anticipated new supplemental charge sheet. The Delhi government's excise policy for 2021–22, which granted licences to liquor dealers, is accused of enabling cartelization and favouring some dealers who had reportedly paid bribes for it—a allegation that the AAP has always denied. After the policy was abandoned, Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena suggested a CBI investigation, and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) filed a complaint in accordance with the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). JAMMU: The 16th Board meeting of JSCL was presided over by Divisional Commissioner Jammu and Chairman of the Board of Directors, Jammu Smart City Limited, Ramesh Kumar, today at the JSCL office. Rahul Yadav, CEO of JSCL, brought the agenda items up for debate, confirmation, and approval during the board meeting. The Tawi Riverfront Development Project has made progress, and the Div Com has urged the responsible officials to overcome interdepartmental concerns in order to expedite the project's completion. He also wanted to have a thorough review meeting to discuss the advancements achieved on the project in question. The concerned officials were instructed by the Div Com to convene regular meetings with all parties involved in order to track developments and remove any obstacles as soon as possible.The Board also talked about the projects that were finished as part of the Smart City Mission, like the eBuses, Integrated Command Control Centre, and Integrated Traffic Management System, and their sustainability, upkeep, and regulations. While reviewing the implementation of various components, the Div Com asked about the smart class functionality in the schools constructed by Jammu Smart City Limited. Also evaluated was the advancement made under other JSCL projects, such as the Heritage Trail from Mubarak Mandi Complex to Raghunath Nazar. NASHIK: As part of the Swachchata Abhiyan programme, Prime Minister Narendra Modi cleaned the grounds of the Kalaram Temple in Nashik, Maharashtra, on Friday. JAMMU, Jan 12: Another cell phone has been found by the authorities in the possession of an inmate detained under the Public Safety Act (PSA) at the high security Central Jail in the Kot Bhalwal neighbourhood of this city's outskirts. According to official sources, searches were conducted in the barracks housing hardened criminals, particularly those sentenced under the UAPA and PSA, based on particular inputs. One cell phone was found in the custody of a prisoner involved in a public service announcement, according to sources. Six charges involving the recovery of drugs and cell phones from Central Jail, Kot Bhalwal inmates have been filed with Police Station Gharota in less than two months. Notably, a few days ago, jail officials also found one cell phone belonging to a militant from Lashkar-e-Taiba who was incarcerated. "A smartphone was found on Habib, a prisoner from Haria Chak in Kathua, and was given to the Jammu and Kashmir Police." According to insiders, "We are attempting to investigate the security breach that allowed this smartphone to enter the jail." The smartphone that was found belongs to a Chinese company called POCO. The National Investigation Agency charged Habib in January of last year in connection with the retrieval and interception of a Hexacopter drone, as well as rounds of UBGL and magnetic bombs, from the vicinity of Dhalli, which is under the district of Kathua.Jail sources claim that Habib also attempted suicide while incarcerated, but the authorities intervened in time to stop him. They indicated he was going to be placed under police remand to look into the retrieval of cell phones. Notably, on November 22, 2023, a shipment of drugs was found inside a jail cricket ball; on November 28, drugs were taken into custody; on January 2, cell phones and earphones were found inside the jail grounds; on January 9, a cell phone was found inside the jail; on January 9 itself, three cell phones were found inside the jail grounds; and on January 11, a cell phone was found inside the jail from a prisoner.
