Drugs Worth Crores Seized In Baramulla Destroyed

SRINAGAR, Dec 30: On Saturday, the Jammu and Kashmir Police demolished a significant amount of illicit material valued at crores of rupees that had been found in the Baramulla district of North Kashmir. Under the direction of Senior Superintendent of Police Baramulla Amod Nagpure, the District Level Drug Disposal Committee Baramulla carried out the exercise. According to a police spokesman, the illegal substances that were taken from 27 cases at Police Station Uri, Boniyar, Pattan, Kreeri, Kunzer, and Tangmarg in the Baramulla district were destroyed at Pulwama.He stated that the items found in the confiscation weighed crores and included 6.303 kg of heroin, 63.413 kg of poppy straw, 207 kg of ganja, 652 kg of cannabis, 600 kg of cannabis powder, 3.950 kg of bang bosa, 953 kg of charas, 1.120 kg of charas powder, and 127 kg of fukki. In the presence of a committee that was appointed and led by the Deputy SP DAR Baramulla, the DySP ANTF Kashmir, the DySP CID CI Pulwama, the Executive Magistrate Kunzer, the Reader to the SSP Baramulla, the Field Inspector of the Pollution Control Board, and other district police officers, the seized drugs were destroyed at the Kashmir Health Care System, Lassipora Pulwama.It is important to note that Baramulla Police destroyed 32 cases of illegal substances that were seized from various police stations in the district in July 2023. Jammu Crime Branch chargesheets Nagpur-based man for Rs 1.70-cr fraud

JAMMU: According to an official, the Crime Branch of the Jammu and Kashmir Police filed a chargesheet on Saturday against a Maharashtra resident for allegedly defrauding a businessman of Rs 1.70 crore in 2019 under the guise of supplying food grains. According to an agency spokesman, the Economic Offences Wing of the Crime Branch, Jammu, filed a 504-page chargesheet against accused Parvin Kumar Ninawe, a Nagpur, Maharashtra resident, in this court for allegedly defrauding Suresh Gupta, the owner of the Shona Trust Corporation. Gupta is a company that sells, buys, and supplies food grains and related products to the general public and government.In his complaint to the Jammu Crime Branch, Gupta claimed that although he had paid the accused Rs 3.11 crore on occasion, the accused had only given him goods valued at Rs 1.41 crore. The remaining sum was not reimbursed, nor had the accused supplied any goods, according to the spokesman. He claimed that the accused had also given the complainant a cheque for Rs 60 lakh, but the bank had refused to accept it. Following the receipt of the complaint, an initial investigation was carried out, and the spokesman stated that the claims made were found to be prima facie supported, resulting in the formal case being filed under the applicable sections. He claimed that Ninawe, who is out on bail, is guilty of the offences listed under Indian Penal Code section 420, which deals with cheating. SRINAGAR, Dec 30: A five-lakh rupee reward has been offered by J&K Police for any information leading to the identification of the killers of a retired senior superintendent of police who was shot and killed in north Kashmir a few days ago. In Gantmulla village on the Baramulla Uri highway, retired SSP Muhammad Shafi Mir was shot and killed on December 24 inside a mosque by an unidentified gunman while he was leading the call to prayer. The official sources claimed that the 72-year-old retired officer was killed by a 12-bore gun, a weapon that isn't typically used by the militants, despite the police classifying it as a terror incident. Posters advertising the reward were affixed to various locations within Gantmulla and its surrounding areas by the Police. "This is to notify everyone that the Police are offering a reward of Rs 5 lakhs to anyone who shares any information or leads regarding the killing of Mohammad Shafi Mir on December 24 morning by an unidentified individual." the poster states. The police promised to keep the identity of the person providing the information a secret. Following the murder, police have questioned a number of people, including some of the retired officer's relatives. During the course of the case investigation, police have also taken approximately twenty 12-bore rifles from the local villagers.According to sources, these rifles have been sent for forensic analysis. NEW DELHI, Dec 30: The government has published draft guidelines on how to make railway stations, their facilities, and trains accessible to individuals with disabilities. The guidelines emphasise the importance of incorporating technology-enabled features like text-to-speech and easily navigable pictograms. In order to make the proposed guidelines more user-friendly, the Department of the People with Disabilities (PwDs) has asked stakeholders and the general public to provide their feedback, objections, and suggestions by January 29. The suggested guidelines also emphasise the necessity of specifically designed website features that appeal to "divyangjans," guaranteeing an adaptable and user-friendly interface design. According to the draft guidelines, these features will integrate technology-enabled accessibility features like text-to-speech and easily readable pictograms, adhering to universal design principles and World Wide Web Consortium guidelines. The proposal calls for creating a one-click template and specialised mobile app that would show disabled passengers all the amenities and information that are available to them in trains as well as at stations. Credible announcements about PwD facilities will be incorporated into public announcement systems at train stations and platforms to promote inclusivity. According to the draft guidelines, this covers digital displays, captioning, and sign language. Along with Braille signage, standardised illuminated signage for all stations has also been suggested. New Delhi, Dec 30: The number of new COVID-19 infections in India on Saturday was 743, marking the largest increase in 225 days, while the total number of active cases was 3,997, according to the Union health ministry. Seven new deaths were reported in a day, according to data updated by the ministry at 8 am. These deaths came from three different states: Kerala, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, and Tamil Nadu. Ayodhya (UP), Dec 30: On Saturday, the reconstructed Ayodhya railway station was officially opened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who also symbolically launched two Amrit Bharat and six Vande Bharat trains.
