Jammu, July 20: On Thursday, as many as 6523 pilgrims headed for the Shri Amarnath Cave Shrine in the South Kashmir Himalayas from Bhagwati Nagar Base Camp .A convoy of 262 trucks carrying 6523 pilgrims reportedly left the base camp, according to an official.
A caravan of 167 cars carrying a total of 3746 pilgrims (2995 men, 665 women, two children, 75 sadhus, and 9 sadhvis) departed for Pahalgam.
A caravan of 97 trucks carrying 2777 pilgrims, including 1750 men, 1020 women, one child, and six sadhus, departed for Baltal under strict security measures.
On July 1, the yatra began, and it will end on August 31.
