BANIHAL: ADGP of Jammu zone Mukesh Singh on Saturday visited several towns along the Jammu-Srinagar national highway and took stock of the security arrangements for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra.To assess the security arrangements, Singh travelled to Lambar-Banihal, Ramsoo, Ramban, and Chanderkot with senior police officers. On June 30, one day before the yatra’s scheduled start date to the 3,880-meter-high cave shrine in the Himalayas, the first group of pilgrims will depart for Kashmir from the base camp at Bhagwati Nagar in Jammu.The ADGP spoke with officers from the CRPF and the Army and inquired about the logistics offered to the soldiers deployed en route. He requested that the officers stationed at vantage points carry out their assigned tasks with the utmost care to ensure that the pilgrims feel safe and protected, according to the police.Additionally, he gave the J&K State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel instructions to be extremely watchful, attentive, and to move quickly to begin rescue operations in case any unanticipated tragedy to a pilgrim occurred due to any natural or man-made calamity.The ADGP was joined during his visit by Senior Superintendent of Police of Ramban district Mohita Sharma and Deputy Inspector General of Police (Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban) Sunil Gupta. Benam Tosh, senior superintendent of police for the Samba district, presided over a meeting of all the security organisations to discuss the yatra’s arrangements. According to the police, all of the officers have been told to remain vigilant, collaborate superbly, and sensitively share intelligence inputs in order to thwart the evil plans of anti-national individuals and their mentors over the international border.
