JAMMU: The Semi Ring Road in Jammu and the Delhi-Amritsar–Katra Motorway were thoroughly inspected today by Secretary of PWD(R&B), Bhupinder Kumar, in order to evaluate the status of the continuing construction on these significant projects. On his first field visit after taking over as PWD’s director, the Secretary was joined by the Project Director, NHAI, the Director of Finance PWD, the Director of Planning PWD, and additional PWD and NHAI staff. The Secretary gave the NHAI officials instructions to improve the road’s riding surface from Satwari to Bari Brahmna during the visit in order to lessen the inconvenience that the public and commuters experience as a result of the motorway project’s execution work.He travelled the whole length of the three-package, Rs. 5781 Cr. J&K motorway project, which is being undertaken by NHAI, between Kathua and Jammu City. He made it clear to NHAI that the motorway construction must be finished by September 2024. Additionally, Bhupinder Kumar visited the site of the damaged Tarnah bridge and received a thorough briefing from NHAI officials. The NHAI officials promised that the bridge’s restoration work would be finished by March 2024, resolving the issues that commuters and HMVs were facing. The Secretary also examined bottlenecks at the flyover at Ghagwal, the Road under Bridge at Nanak Chak, and other areas. In order to ensure that the works are finished on time, the Secretary advised NHAI to engage with the Northern Railway. Additionally, he examined the NHAI casting yard in Jakh, and NHAI officials informed him on the quality control procedures in place to guarantee prompt and high-quality casting operations for the motorway project. Bhupinder Kumar also went to Jammu’s Semi Ring Road to evaluate the road’s preparedness for traffic launching. He was told that the road has been constructed for 48 kilometres.
