New Delhi, Jan 8: One of the CBI‘s former head constables and his family members have been charged for allegedly accumulating assets worth over Rs 2 crore in four years—70% more than his allowed sources of income—according to officials on Monday. Named in the FIR along with his wife and son, Akiluzzama Khan was employed by the Central Bureau of Investigation’s Anti-Corruption-III unit, which deals with a number of high-profile corruption cases, for allegedly accumulating these assets between April 1, 2014, and March 31, 2018, which could not be satisfactorily accounted for.Khan’s assets allegedly increased dramatically from Rs 8,515 at the beginning of the check period to Rs 3.73 crore at its conclusion on March 31, 2018, according to allegations made by the CBI. It was also discovered that he was purportedly spending Rs 1.26 crore at this time. The officials stated that he was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for Rs 2.07 crore, which is 70% of his total income, after discounting the legitimate income of Rs 2.93 crore obtained by him and his family. Khan was integrated into the CBI in March 1997 after joining the organisation in 1993 as a deputation from the BSF. In 2021, he voluntarily retired.
