NEW DELHI, Dec 31: According to the health ministry, India has seen 841 new COVID-19 cases, the most in 227 days, while 4,309 cases of the virus are currently active. According to data updated by the ministry at 8 a.m., three new COVID-19 fatalities—one each from Kerala, Karnataka, and Bihar—have been reported in the last 24 hours. On May 19, 865 new cases were reported in India. Before December 5, the number of cases per day had fallen to double digits; however, with the emergence of a new variant and the cold weather, cases have increased once more.At the height of the pandemic, which started in early 2020 and has resulted in over 4.5 crore infections and over 5.3 lakh deaths in roughly four years nationwide, the daily figures were expressed in lakhs. According to the ministry’s website, over 4.4 crore people have recovered from the illness, meaning that the country’s recovery rate is 98.81%. As per the website, the nation has administered 220.67 crore doses of the Covid vaccine so far.
