SRINAGAR: On Wednesday morning, the security forces at Lawaypora on the Srinagar-Baramulla highway demolished a suspected IED, briefly causing traffic on the busy route to be disrupted. The Bomb Disposal Squad was called to the scene after security personnel discovered a suspicious object on the highway that was equipped with a cylinder, according to a senior police officer. The suspicious object was destroyed with a controlled explosion for the public’s safety, the officer stated. He said they were determining the nature of the suspicious object. On the National Highway, which was previously closed as a precaution, traffic has now resumed.
