NEW DELHI, Jun 26:A dramatic CCTV recording of the suspected gunpoint robbery that took place within the bustling Pragati Maidan tunnel, where four motorcycle-riding guys stopped a car and stole nearly Rs 2 lakh from a delivery man and his friend, has been given to the Delhi Police.Officials stated on Monday that one of the CCTV cameras installed within the 1.5-km tunnel connecting New Delhi with Sarai Kale Khan and Noida had recorded the alleged occurrence.
Police claimed that in order to determine whether it was an inside job, they are also questioning the complainants, their employer, and other employees. The 22-second video appears to indicate that the four men chased the cab inside the tunnel as other cars passed by on two motorcycles.The two men riding pillion exited the taxi as it came to a stop, one went straight to the driver’s seat and the other to the rear gate, both appearing to pull out their weapons. They were all donning helmets.The video then showed the car gates opening and the man in the back being given a black purse that appeared to be carrying money. The two then hastily climbed aboard their waiting motorbike and took off with their thugs.
According to the police, a delivery agent and his assistant were in the hired automobile, and they were on their way to deliver a bag containing between Rs 1.5 and 2 lakh to a person in Gurugram.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi), Pranav Tayal, “On Saturday, a complainant working as a delivery agent at Omiya enterprises, Chandni Chowk, came to the Tilak Marg Police Station and gave a written complaint that he and his associate were going to Gurgaon to deliver a bag of cash.”They rented an ola cab from Lal Qila, and when they were travelling to Gurgaon on the Ring Road, when they entered the tunnel, four individuals on two motorbikes blocked their cab and demanded to be let go of his bag, which contained between Rs 1.5 lakh and Rs 2 lakh, he claimed. According to him, attempts are being made to apprehend the offenders after a complaint was filed under sections 34 (common intention) and 397 (robbery, or dacoity, with attempt to inflict death or grave hurt) of the Indian Penal Code.
