RAJASTHAN: Rahul Gandhi, the Congress leader, promoted the caste census on Tuesday, calling it a national “X-ray.” “How will we talk about participation if it is unknown whose population is how much?” he asked at an election rally in Vallabhnagar, Udaipur. Gandhi stated that if the Congress wins power, it will carry out a caste census in Rajasthan and nationwide if it forms the federal government. On the matter, he attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, claiming that while in the past the PM had claimed to be an OBC, on the day Gandhi brought up the demand for a caste census, Modi began asserting that there is only one caste in India: the poor. “Modi claimed that there was only one caste in the nation—the poor—but he made no mention of the existence of a second caste, which consists of billionaires. That’s the caste of Adani, Ambani. They belong to a unique caste,” he remarked. The former head of the Congress accused Modi of using his position to distract the public while Adani commits pickpocketing, saying that “they are a team”.
