Six Arrested With Heroin-Like Contraband in Katra, Weapons Recovered

KATRA Reasi Police arrested six persons and recovered 21.09 grams of heroin-like contraband during an operation in the Guni Parthal area of Katra, officials said.

A police team from Police Station Katra was conducting an operation when it noticed a group of suspicious persons near Government Middle School, Guni Parthal. On seeing the police, the suspects allegedly attempted to flee but were chased and apprehended by the police team.

During a search, police recovered 21.09 grams of heroin-like substance, along with a weighing machine and other articles allegedly linked to the illegal trade of narcotic substances. One sword and two tokas (sharp-edged weapons) were also recovered from three of the accused, police said.

In connection with the recovery, FIR No. 316/2026 has been registered at Police Station Katra under Sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act, Sections 132, 351(2) and 3(5) of the BNS, and Section 4/25 of the Arms Act.

The arrested persons have been identified as Sanjay Kumar of Didi Pangal, Ravi Kumar of Aghar Jitto, Mohan Singh of Didi Pangal, Vikram Singh of Didi Pangal, Randhir Singh of Parthal, Katra, and Pardeep Singh of Parthal, Katra.

According to police records, some of the accused are allegedly habitual offenders and have previously been booked in cases registered at Police Station Katra.

Police said further investigation is underway to trace the source of the recovered contraband and identify other individuals allegedly connected with the drug network.
