CBI Arrests Fireman in Udhampur for Allegedly Accepting Bribe

UDHAMPUR: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a fireman posted with the Fire and Emergency Services Department in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir, in connection with an alleged bribery case.

According to a CBI press release, an instant case was registered on October 6 following a complaint alleging that the accused demanded ₹40,000 from the complainant for processing and issuing a Fire & Emergency Services No Objection Certificate (NOC) for his hotel at Katra.

After negotiations, the accused allegedly agreed to accept ₹15,000 as the bribe.

The CBI laid a trap on October 6 and allegedly caught the accused red-handed while demanding and accepting the ₹15,000 bribe from the complainant.

The accused was subsequently arrested and the investigation in the case is continuing, the CBI said.
