LEH: Following his high-profile engagements across Jammu and Kashmir, United States Ambassador to India Sergio Gor arrived in Leh, marking another historic first visit by a top US envoy to the strategic frontier region since the 2020 Galwan clashes and the subsequent border standoff with China.
As per media reports, the American envoy was scheduled to meet Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama in Leh, an engagement taking place as the 91-year-old monk continues his extended stay in the region.
Addressing reports surrounding the potential interaction, Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) Sikyong Penpa Tsering clarified that while a dialogue was initially under consideration, the schedule underwent a last-minute revision.
