JAMMU, Aug 14: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Border Security Force (BSF) have jointly seized 603 grams of suspected heroin during a coordinated narcotics operation in Bari Brahmana area of Samba district, officials said.
According to an NCB press note, the operation was carried out on August 13 on the basis of specific intelligence in an area described as having a history of notorious activities.
During the operation, the joint team recovered 603 grams of suspected heroin and seized a motorcycle allegedly used in furtherance of the illicit activity. One accused, a resident of Vijaypur, Samba, was apprehended on the spot.
The NCB said the operation was conducted under high-risk and hostile circumstances, and that coordinated deployment of personnel from the three agencies helped bring the situation under control despite resistance.
The agency said the action reflected the joint determination of enforcement agencies to further the objectives of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.
The latest seizure came a day after another NCB operation in Jammu in which 438 grams of suspected heroin was recovered, highlighting intensified anti-narcotics operations in the region.
The seized contraband has been secured and the accused taken into custody, the NCB said.
Further investigation is underway to trace the forward and backward linkages connected with the narcotics network.
