JAMMU: Amid heightened security measures and intensified area domination efforts ahead of Independence Day, Jammu and Kashmir Police, along with Border Security Force (BSF) troops, conducted a cordon-and-search operation near the International Border in Jammu on Sunday, police said.
A police spokesman said the joint operation was carried out in Aik Nallah, Kool Kalan and adjoining areas falling under the jurisdiction of Arnia Police Station.
The operation began around 6 pm and continued for nearly two hours.
During the search, security personnel thoroughly checked around 15 houses and ‘kullas’ (shacks) in the area, the spokesman said.
Police said the exercise was part of routine security, surveillance and area domination measures being undertaken in the run-up to Independence Day.
The situation remained normal throughout the operation and no untoward incident was reported, officials said.
