NEW DELHI: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday filed a supplementary chargesheet in the Pahalgam terror attack case, naming Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) chief Hafiz Saeed as an accused for his alleged role in orchestrating the April 22 attack from Pakistan.
According to an NIA statement, the supplementary chargesheet was filed before the NIA Special Court in Jammu. Saeed has been named both in his individual capacity and as the chief of the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba and its proxy outfit, The Resistance Front (TRF).
The anti-terror agency has charged Saeed under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), 1967, including offences related to waging war against India and criminal conspiracy.
The chargesheet details Pakistan’s alleged conspiracy behind the Pahalgam terror attack, Saeed’s role in planning and directing the operation, and supporting evidence gathered through scientific investigation and extensive on-ground examination.
The NIA had earlier, on December 15, 2025, filed a chargesheet naming Sajid Jatt, along with three terrorists who were killed during Operation Mahadev in July 2025, and two arrested accused. The agency had also arraigned the banned LeT/TRF as a legal entity for allegedly planning, facilitating and executing the attack.
Following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, an FIR was initially registered at Pahalgam Police Station before the Ministry of Home Affairs transferred the investigation to the NIA.
The agency said investigations are continuing to uncover the complete cross-border conspiracy and the role of Pakistan-based handlers in sponsoring and directing terrorist activities in India.
