KATRA: District Police Reasi on Friday said it achieved a major breakthrough in the armed assault case reported at RK Palace Hotel in JIJ Chowk area of Katra by arresting four accused persons and apprehending two Children in Conflict with Law (CICL) from Haryana.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of SSP Reasi Mukund Tibrewal.
According to police, on May 2, 2026, a group of persons armed with sharp-edged weapons, including a Toka, forcibly entered RK Palace Hotel and allegedly assaulted Jaswinder Singh, also known as Sundri, causing serious injuries.
The injured person was immediately shifted to CHC Katra for treatment.
Following the incident, Police Station Katra registered FIR No. 137/2026 under Sections 109, 191(2), 191(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita read with Section 4/25 of the Arms Act, and initiated investigation on priority basis.
Police said the accused fled to Haryana after committing the offence in an attempt to evade arrest. Acting on human intelligence inputs and technical surveillance, a dedicated police team of Police Station Katra traced and apprehended the accused from Haryana. The weapons used in the crime were also recovered.
The arrested accused have been identified as:
Akshay, son of Dildar, resident of Serwad Katra, aged 21 years
Sahil, son of Kewal, resident of Serwad Katra, aged 21 years
Suraj, son of Indru, resident of Serwad Katra, aged 26 years
Rahul, son of Ratan Lal, resident of Serwad Katra, aged 23 years
Police said two juveniles involved in the case have also been apprehended, but their identities are being withheld in accordance with provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act.
The operation was led by SHO Police Station Katra Ranjeet Singh Rao under the supervision of SDPO Katra Bhishm Dubey and SP Katra Kameshwar Puri.
District Police Reasi reiterated its commitment towards maintaining peace, law and order, and ensuring the safety and security of citizens and pilgrims in Katra.
