JAMMU: Jammu & Kashmir Police on Monday said it had dismantled an inter-state and transnational terror module linked to proscribed outfits Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGuH), leading to the arrest of several key operatives and seizure of a large cache of arms, ammunition and explosives.

According to a police statement, the investigation began on 19 October 2025, after multiple JeM posters threatening security forces were found pasted in Bunpora Nowgam, Srinagar. A case was registered under UAPA, BNS, Arms Act and Explosive Substances Act at Police Station Nowgam.

Police said the probe uncovered a “white-collar” terror ecosystem involving radicalised professionals and students who were in contact with foreign handlers based in Pakistan and other countries. The group allegedly used encrypted communication platforms to coordinate logistics, fund movement, indoctrination and recruitment. Funds were reportedly raised through professional and academic networks under the guise of social or charitable causes.

The arrested individuals have been identified as:

Arif Nisar Dar alias Sahil, Nowgam, Srinagar
Yasir-ul-Ashraf, Nowgam, Srinagar
Maqsood Ahmad Dar alias Shahid, Nowgam, Srinagar
Molvi Irfan Ahmad, Imam and resident of Shopian
Zameer Ahmad Ahanger alias Mutlasha, Wakura, Ganderbal
Dr Muzammil Ahmad Ganaie alias Musaib, Koil, Pulwama
Dr Adeel, Wanpora, Kulgam
Police said additional suspects have surfaced and will be apprehended.

As part of the investigation, coordinated raids were carried out in Srinagar, Anantnag, Ganderbal and Shopian, along with searches in Faridabad with Haryana Police and in Saharanpur with UP Police.

The operation led to what officials described as a massive recovery of incriminating material and explosives, including:

One Chinese Star pistol, one Beretta pistol, one AK-56 rifle, and one AK Krinkov rifle — all with ammunition
Around 2,900 kilograms of IED-making material, including explosives, chemicals, reagents, inflammable substances, electronic circuits, batteries, wires, remote controls, timers and metal sheets
Financial investigations into the flow of funds are underway, and all linkages are being traced, the police said.

Calling the operation a major counter-terror success, J&K Police stated that it remains “committed to stamping out the scourge of terrorism.
