Police bust drug network; arrest 7 with heroin-like-substance, sharp weapons

JAMMU, July 1: Busting a major drug network in Miran Sahib area here today, police claimed to have arrested seven individuals and recovered from their possession 160 grams of heroin-like-substance, two sharp weapons, five mobile phones and Rs 7000 in cash. A Swift Dzire vehicle used by the accused was also seized.
The arrested persons have been identified as Mohammad Mansha of Ghandu Chak, Phallain Mandal; Mohammad Saleem of Hatli Morh, Kathua; Mohammad Kabir and Mohammad Mushtaq-both residents of Kanshkhassan, Reasi; Lal Hussain of Alwara, Phallain Mandal, Anil Kumar of Thalwal, Phallain Mandal, and Asif Ali of Gujjar Nagar, Jammu.
A police official said the contraband and weapons were seized during routine area domination duty when police noticed suspicious activity and intercepted the vehicle.
He said, accordingly, the accused have been booked in case FIR number 85/2025 under sections 109/ 132/ 121/ 191 (2)/ 111 of the BNS, 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act, and 4/25 Arms Act registered at Police Station Miran Sahib.
“And further investigation is ongoing to trace the source and destination of the contraband. Police are also looking into the financial angle to track proceeds from the drug trade and initiate further legal action,” said the police official.
Pertinently, the entire operation was led by SHO Miran Sahib, Jai Paul Sharma under the supervision of SDPO RS Pura and SP Headquarters Jammu.
