JAMMU: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Jammu-Samba-Kathua (JSK) Range, Shiv Kumar Sharma, flanked by SSP Jammu, Joginder Singh, reviewed the security and traffic arrangements for the annual Jhiri Mela.
As per a statement, the meeting was attended by SP Rural Jammu, SDM Marh, SDPO Marh, DySP Traffic Rural Jammu, officers from the civil administration, SHO Kanachak and members of the Jhiri Mela Temple Management Committee beside other stakeholders.
It said that meeting focussed on implementing effective security measures, managing traffic flow, organizing parking facilities, and ensuring crowd control.
The meeting also reviewed the emergency response protocols and inter-departmental coordination to facilitate the safety and smooth movement for the large number of attendees expected in the annual fair.
After the meeting, the DIG JSK Range also visited Border out Post of BSF to review the border security. The Jhiri Mela, a prominent Kisan Mela (farmers’ fair), is anticipated to attract a substantial number of visitors from Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Delhi. Given this high turnout, extensive arrangements are in place to ensure a seamless and successful event.
Security forces, traffic management teams, and support from the civil departments are collaborating to maintain crowd control, safety, and convenience.
