KATHUA : Two people, one of whom is a police officer, were detained on Tuesday in the Kathua region of Jammu and Kashmir for allegedly raising a commotion at a “dhaba” along the Jammu-Pathankot Highway, according to the police.
According to a police officer, the two are accused of firing their weapons after a fight broke out in Chak Sajjan village and assaulting the restaurant’s personnel.
A country-made pistol was found on the arrested individuals, he claimed, and a hunt is currently underway to find their third accomplice who managed to escape.
Dhaba owner Bhushan Singh said in his complaint that the accused used profanity when their meal was being delivered, which his workers found objectionable. In a fit of fury, the accused shot them with a pistol and beat them up.
The accused policemen Joginder Singh of Samba and ex-serviceman Balwinder Singh of Kathua were detained after a case was registered under the relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code and Arms Act, including attempted murder.
