Jmu-Sri highway blocked due to landslide in Ramban, Amarnath Yatra halted

JAMMU: According to officials, a landslide on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in the Ramban region on Wednesday forced the suspension of the yearly pilgrimage to the revered cave shrine of Shri Amarnath from Jammu to Srinagar. From Pantha Chowk Yatra Base Camp to Jammu, the Yatra will also be put on hold; it will continue once the national highway is open to traffic. According to the Jammu and Kashmir traffic police, a landslip at T2 Marog Ramban has shut the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. “Landslide at T2 Marog Ramban has stopped the Jammu-Srinagar NHW. Without authorization from the TCUs (Traffic Control Unit), people are urged not to travel on NH-44, according to J-K traffic police. Beginning on July 1, the 62-day Amarnath Yatra will end on August 31, 2023.
