Directs o LADCS to record grievances of prisoners
KATHUA, MAY 20: Chairman, District Legal Services Authority Kathua, Ashok Kumar Shavan, (Principal District & Sessions Judge Kathua), today visited District Jail Kathua to review the condition of Prison besides enquiring about the facilities available for the inmates.
This Jail visit was conducted in accordance with the directions of NALSA and J&K Legal Services Authority (JKLSA).
The Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Kathua was accompanied by Secretary District Legal Services Authority Kathua Rekha Kapoor Nischal, LADCS Officers as well as Chief Administrative Officer, Administrative officer & Section officer of Principal District & Sessions Court Kathua.
During the visit, the Chairman, DLSA Kathua inspected the jail premises and the facilities available for inmates lodged therein. The Chairperson interacted with the inmates placed in different barracks and inquired about their health, quality of food & water being provided to them by Jail Authorities in addition to access to Legal representation. He also inspected the facilities available at Video Conference Hall, Medical Clinic /Room, Legal Aid Clinic, Cooking Area and washrooms in the jail.
The Chairperson also enquired about the condition of Jail inmates whose trials are pending outside the District Kathua. He directed the officers of LADCS to record the grievances of jail inmates on spot so that the same can be timely redressed.
The Chairperson also gave directions to Superintendent District Jail Kathua to maintain proper Hygiene in the Jail by ensuring regular fumigation & spray in coordination with Municipal committee Kathua.
