SRINAGAR, Feb 17: An avalanche warning was issued for eight districts in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday due to the meteorological center’s prediction of heavy snowfall. Avalanches with low hazard levels are predicted to occur above 2,200 metres in the next 24 hours across the districts of Bandipora, Baramulla, Kupwara, Ganderbal in Kashmir, and Doda, Kishtwar, Poonch, and Ramban in the Jammu region, according to the Jammu and Kashmir Disaster Management Authority (JKDMA). According to JKDMA, residents in these locations are urged to exercise caution and refrain from going outside in avalanche-prone zones. The JKDMA advised the public to call 112 if they needed assistance. Jammu & Kashmir is preparing for a prolonged wet spell that will last for five days starting this evening.
